The surprisingly easy ways to not improve

There are a lot of books on personal development. A lot of books on personal finance. So, if you really wanted to improve, get out of a rut, unstuck yourself, you go and read these books. Apply the strategies and work on yourself. However, there is another option. How to not improve? In this blog, let us look at the ways on how to not improve.

Give Up

The easiest option. Just Give up. No need to deliberately improve your life. Go with the flow. Dance to the tune of life, never composing your own music.

Men at some time are masters of their fates;

The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,

But in ourselves, that we are underlings.

Shakespeare (Julius Caesar)

However, if you do want to change your fate, Never Give Up.

Complain

You can always complain about others. How others have made your life hell. How some people just can’t get you. Complaining is easier, gives you a release of dopamine. It allows you to fix your responsibility on others. You go free.

I think some people enjoy complaining almost as much as they enjoy doing nothing about it.

However, if you want to win in life, stop complaining, take action and fix your situation.

Blame Others

What is better than complaining? Blaming others. Blame others for all your problems. You are poor? Your family was poor, nothing you can do about it. Does your spouse keep fighting? You are perfect, she is the one who needs therapy.

However, if you want to improve, stop the blame game. Stop! Stop looking out the window and look in the mirror! Focus on fixing the problem, never focus on the blame. You resolve a problem by looking for a solution.

Don’t take action

This one is my favourite way of not improving. You cannot improve if you don’t take action. This is guaranteed. Action requires effort. You better save all your calories if you want to not improve.

Most people die at 25 and aren’t buried until they’re 75.

Benjamin Franklin

How do these people achieve this? They did this by not taking action. They stopped learning and growing after they graduated. Action is the antidote to stagnation. However, if you want to improve, you know what “to do”.

Wait for Perfection

I am guilty of this, have been putting off my course creation due to this simple reason. I want to perfect the videos for my course. Result: No course yet. Perfection is the enemy of progress. If your goal is to not improve, try to do things perfectly. One slight mistake and you have to redo the entire thing again.

All of you know that “Practice makes perfect”. So, do not share your content until you are perfect. However, if you want to improve, revise the quote – “Practice makes progress”.

Practice makes progress.

Vince Lombardi

Don’t learn from your mistakes.

We all make mistakes. But, most of us make the same mistakes over and over again. Don’t want to improve, keep repeating your mistakes. Never learn or reflect on what went wrong. What’s the use? You are happy where you are. Reflection requires effort, it allows you to introspect, refine your processes. It will change the way you do things and improve your results. So, never learn from your mistakes. However…

A smart man learns from his mistakes. A wise man learns from the mistakes of others.

Don’t Change

Change is hard. It requires a lot of energy and discipline. Why waste that effort when your goal is to not improve? Sit back, relax and stay where you are. Change your approach and you will improve.

Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.

George Bernard Shaw

Wait for success

You are gifted. Why should you have to work to improve? Success should come to you naturally. Just wait for it and when the right time comes, you will be successful. Doesn’t really happen this way, does it? So, if your goal is to not improve, wait for success to come to you.

Final Words…

In case you are wondering, this is a satirical post. Improving yourself is the only way to live your life. Stagnate and you would have died much before the actual death. Improve your life by taking action, learning from your mistakes and meet the new “You”.
